Frequently Asked Questions

After spending some time exploring our products, the overall ideas usually begin to settle in. But when it comes to using them in everyday life, a few more practical questions naturally come up.

This page brings those details together in one place. Materials, safety, age range, compatibility, and how each system is actually used over time, whether at home or in a shared setting.

We have kept everything clear and straightforward, so you can understand how things work and choose what feels right for your space, and for the way you would like your child to grow through play.

Explore Each System in Detail

Recommended for ages 3 years and up.

Children between 3 and 7 often begin to engage more deeply, as small changes in placement start to affect balance in visible ways.

There is no fixed end point. Older children, and even adults, often return to it for quiet focus. Sometimes longer than expected.

The 72 pieces inside are exactly the same. The difference is only in how they are stored and handled.

  • Standard Pack:
A durable paper tube with a metal lid. The wide opening allows for easy access, making it natural to build, reset, and begin again.
  • Gift Pack:
A paper gift box with a canvas drawstring bag. Useful for gathering, storing, or bringing the pieces along when play moves elsewhere.

We do not approach this as step-by-step instruction.

Each set includes a Kick-start Guideline with over 20 starting ideas. These help you begin, but they do not define what comes next.

From there, the experience opens up. On our How It Grows page, play can extend into counting, sorting, and simple memory-based activities.

It becomes less about following directions, and more about noticing what changes when something is adjusted.

  • Everyday cleaning: Waterproof and dishwasher-safe.
  • Deeper cleaning: UV sterilization or a short hot water soak (up to 180°F / ~82°C) for 2–3 minutes. Avoid prolonged boiling, as the material is designed to remain flexible for balance-based building.
  • Storage: Indoor storage helps maintain color and reduces long-term exposure effects from sunlight.

It happens.

At the moment, individual replacement pieces are not available.
The system is designed so that building does not depend on a perfectly complete set.

Structures shift and adapt. Play continues with what is available.

It depends on how many people are building.

  • For one child, the 72-piece set offers a balanced starting point.
  • For two to four children, the 144-piece Expert Pack allows for larger structures and shared building.
  • For classrooms or group settings, the 216-piece Class Mate set supports broader collaboration.

Not at all.

The 216-piece Class Mate set was originally developed for classrooms and includes guided lesson materials.

At the same time, it works naturally at home, especially for families who enjoy building at a larger scale or sharing the process.

No teaching background is required. The system itself guides the experience.

The Fun Pack works as an introduction, a way to understand how the pieces behave.

Because balance depends on quantity and distribution, 36 pieces can feel limiting as structures become more ambitious.

Many people begin here, then move to the 72-piece set for a more complete experience.

Yes.

A flat and stable surface works best, since balance depends on alignment.

They are not designed for water play, so fully submerged environments are best avoided.

Yes.

When combined, balance and structure begin to interact in more complex ways.

We usually suggest exploring each system on its own first. Once their behavior becomes familiar, the combination becomes more meaningful.

Recommended for ages 7 years and up.

While the materials meet safety standards for younger children, ideas around alignment, structure, and stability tend to become clearer from around this age.

Younger children can still explore with guidance, often as a shared building experience.

Each structure is different, so the number of pieces varies.

You can find exact counts and details on each product page.

The Master’s Set (6010) brings multiple structures into one system.

It includes the first four original sets (6001–6004), 128 additional pieces, and all six building booklets (6001–6006), stored in a single container.

Some structures share pieces, so not all can be built at once. Taking them apart and rebuilding is part of the experience.

Over time, many builders move from following guides to creating their own structures, using the same principles of alignment and support.

Yes.

The guides are fully visual, allowing children to follow each step without reading.

Alongside the steps, we include context about each structure, connecting how it is built with where it comes from.

For a first build, around 20 to 30 minutes of focused time.

As familiarity grows, the process becomes more efficient and more intentional.

The structures rely on alignment rather than fixed connections.

They are best left where they are built. If movement is needed, building on a tray or flat base helps support the structure.

Yes.

Since nothing is permanently fixed, structures can be taken apart easily. In many cases, this becomes part of the experience.

  • Everyday cleaning: Waterproof and dishwasher-safe.
  • Deeper cleaning: UV sterilization or a short hot water soak (up to 180°F / ~82°C) for 2–3 minutes. Avoid prolonged boiling.
  • Storage: Indoor storage helps maintain color and reduces long-term exposure effects from sunlight.

At the moment, individual replacements are not available.

Because some structures rely on specific pieces for stability, building on a contained surface and storing carefully after use helps reduce loss.

Even with missing pieces, the system can still be used for open-ended structural exploration.

We love that idea!

While the structures themselves are built with care and precision, they often become part of a wider setting.

They can act as a place, a stage, or part of a larger story.

Recommended for ages 3 years and up.

As children begin to explore outdoors and handle small natural elements, the experience becomes more detailed and more attentive.

Younger children can take part with guidance, often as a shared activity.

Each character includes openings of different sizes and positions.

Children try different materials, twigs, leaves, and found objects, and observe what fits, what holds, and what needs adjustment.

Through this process, attention becomes more precise.

No.

The system is designed this way intentionally. The materials come from the environment, not the box.

Over time, even small elements begin to feel meaningful through use.

In most cases, yes.

When materials are well fitted, they remain stable. If the creation will be moved, a quick adjustment helps keep everything in place.

  • Cleaning: Rinse or wipe after outdoor use. Allow them to dry fully before storing.
  • Sanitization: Made from heat-pressed wood sawdust, they are more durable than standard wood, but should not be soaked for extended periods.
  • Storage: They can be stored or displayed. Many families keep them visible as part of their environment.

At the moment, individual pieces are not available.

Each character is designed to function independently, so play continues naturally with the set as it is.

Both collections share the same materials and open-ended approach to play.

The difference lies in the characters themselves. Each has a different form and presence.

Choosing often comes down to what the child feels drawn to.

The experience can continue indoors.

A short time outside, collecting a few small elements, can bring those materials into a quieter setting.

This is part of the process.

  • If something is too small, another piece can help support it.
  • If it is too large, it can be adjusted with simple tools, with guidance if needed.
  • If something is stuck, a small manual tool, such as a 2 mm drill bit, can help clear the opening carefully.

Recommended for ages 4 years and up.

At this stage, children begin to use their whole body, lifting, carrying, placing, and adjusting together.

Each set includes 44 pieces.

32 structural elements across different material types, and 12 balls that introduce movement and shared interaction.

Each piece weighs around 3 lbs (~1.4 kg).

The longest elements reach approximately 40 inches (~100 cm). Full specifications are available on the product page.

Both are possible.

One approach is the “Distributed Resources” model, where each child takes responsibility for a specific material.
Because no one holds everything, building becomes a shared process. Coordination becomes part of the experience.

At the same time, open-ended play remains fully possible.

  • Cleaning: A hose and brush are usually enough. A pressure washer can be used for deeper cleaning.
  • Signs of use: Marks and wear will appear over time. These reflect use and do not affect performance.
  • Storage: Store in a dry, covered space when not in use.

Around 400 square feet (~40 sqm) is recommended.

This allows 8 to 10 children to move and build comfortably, with space for storage included.

Yes.

A single child can explore and build independently.

At the same time, the system expands naturally when used with others, where shared materials and coordination shape what is built.
